On 7 May 2008, during an arrest operation in a house next door, soldiers took over the Daghameh family home in the Gazan village of New 'Ibsan. The mother
and three of her children were home at the time. The soldiers blew up the front door with no prior warning, killing the mother. They then took over the
house for about five hours, during which the mother's body lay on the ground while her children remained in a nearby room. The soldiers then left, leaving
the children with the body. Samira a-Daghameh, 13, told B'Tselem her recollection of the day's events.
See that here. If the video doesn't play, as I couldnt' get it to, go down to where it shows a link to Samira's testimony and click on that.
Once you have done that guys please, visit the Palestinian's Childrens' Welfare fund and do what you can.

Cheers,
Simon

I know Sky love. My best answer to that is to read a board topic Cris put here in the news and views board, about former president Jimmy Carter's book about the Palestinian struggle. In there Cris gave a very good summary of the background, well worth reading. Also in my profile, I list some web sites, a couple of newspapers and magazines, with some more information about it. This cannot continue going unheard, it just can't.

That is really sad. I really wish the best for the 3 children. I find it very sickening how authorites in high power will over use and abuse their power like that.

unfortunately, this is not just a seprate incident. this is the israeli common practice. all Israeli human rights organizations have been talking loudly to alert the world public to the Israeli government crimes, but no one listens. here in America the question of Israeli arrogance is not a foreign policy issue, it is unfortunately a domestic political issue. Israel is beyond criticism, because the Zionist organizations, most of them are Christian, have a lot of power in influencing election results.

Exactly what I said earlier Cris. This isn't a one off. It happens on a far too regular basis, and should be put an end to. And, as you said, as it's not just an incident, or a number of incidents happening in some far off land that has nothing to do with us, shouldn't things be done here too? And by here, I mean in the west as a whole. Talk to people you know support the current regime in Palestine, show them what is happening. The evidence is out there, as I and others are showing you. These things are happening to fellow human beings guys, it is our struggle too.

The problem is that these issues are generally discussed more freely in Israel than in the U.S. My Israeli students tell me that they are stunned in the silence of the American Media about Palestinian suffering. American mainstream journalists and politicians are more catholic than the pope in covering up Israeli crimes against the Palestinians. From my reading of the European press, there are still some daring journalists who raise these issues and criticise the Israeli practices, but often they are attacked as anti semites. In the U.S. you only see discussions of such topics in the few leftist circles, but a total silence surrounds them in the mainstream media.

Indeed Cris, which is why magazines, and websites such as counter.punch.com and others I have listed here, and in my profile, should be widely promoted. Why politicians such as Lord Ellis Thomas and Andreas Van Agt should be supported, for standing up to, and speaking out against a regime which, for the last 60 years plus has done as much if not more damage than the haulacaust, and been as cruel, and as barbaric in its practices. Don't believe me folks? Do some reading. The evidence is there.

Indeed it is Austin. Which is exactly why I and others are posting this kind of thing. People need to know, for reasons I've posted previously. How much more bloodshed does there have to be before apathy turns into action? All of us hold the answer to that question, collectively.

Well, it said 3 of her children. Does that mean there were more? If so, that means more children have to suffer the loss of their mother. As a mother, i would be devastated if I died and my son watched it happen. It's horrific... All this... All this chaos and war for revenge.

Hi, Brandi is it? When you navigate to the link in my first post, further down that page you'll see a link that says "Written testimony of Samira a-Daghameh". This is an English translation of what Samira says in her video testimony. In it, she introduces herself thus:
I am 13 years old. I live with my father, Majdi a-Daghameh and brothers and sisters: Muhammad, 12, Roah, 10, Manal, 9, Ruba, 4, and Qusai, 2. My mother,
Wafa a-Daghameh, lived with us until she was killed. Our house is on Abu Latifah Street, about 700 meters from the Gaza Strip's eastern border with Israel....
So I count 6. But even if there was only Samira, or only the husband, the effect, and so my message is the same. This is senseless, needless violence that we, as free westerners can help put a stop to. You can see here what Cris and I have posted about the struggle, and the background. As I said more background is in Cris's article, which I linked to previously. Also I recently posted another articlehere entitled "What can I do about Israel?" with another suggestion of what you can do. By you I should say us. Anyone who has the freedom to write, speak, purchase goods, and so much more, has a privalege that the Palestinian people do not have. Let's use it and try at least to make a difference.

Salaam, (which means peace, by the way),
Simon
